Woman charged in connection to Jan. 25 homicide: police

Winnipeg police have charged a 31-year-old woman in connection to the death of a man who was initially found seriously injured.

Just before 6 p.m. on Jan. 25, officers responded to reports of a seriously injured man at an apartment along Hargrave Street.

By the time officers arrived, members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were already on the scene. They took the man, Richard Wheeler, to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

On Jan. 28, police took Joy Nancy Moose, 31, into custody in connection to the death of Wheeler.

Investigators believe the two were acquaintances before Wheeler’s passing.

While Moose was in custody, she reportedly assaulted a detective and has since been charged with assaulting a peace officer and second-degree murder.
