Mayor, council receive Naloxone training

By CityNews Staff

City of Winnipeg Mayor Gillingham and several members of council and staff received training Monday on how to administer Naloxone.

Naloxone is a fast-acting drug that can temporarily reverse the effects of opioid overdoses, and restore breathing within two to five minutes. It only works if opioids such as fentanyl, heroin, morphine, or codeine are present in a person’s system.

Mayor Gillingham says the training today was enlightening as to what first responders go through.
