Winnipeg police looking for 2 women linked to alleged dog theft attempt

Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is looking for two women after a dog was nearly stolen on Thursday near McMicken Street and Sargent Avenue.

WPS says officers responded to a report of an attempted theft after a man alleged two women approached him and asked to pet his dog.

Officers add the man says when he did not let the women pet his dog, they grabbed the leash out of his hand and threatened him with bear spray.

“The victim punched the suspects and grabbed his dog. He ran to safety and was not injured. The suspects subsequently fled the area,” said Winnipeg police in a statement.

Both women have been described as in their 30s with a medium build, one was wearing a three-quarter length jacket, with dark hair tied back.
