Extreme cold warning continues for southern Manitoba

By News Staff and The Canadian Press

Much of southern Manitoba remained under an extreme cold warning Saturday morning.

Environment Canada says to expect extremely cold wind chill values near minus-40 Celsius.

The agency warns there is an elevated risk of frostbite and hypothermia. It says frostbite is possible in a few minutes at that temperature.

Environment Canada is also warning pet owners to take precautions.

“If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside,” it said in its extreme cold warning alert.
