Winnipeg man facing firearm charges following traffic stop

Winnipeg police arrested a man just after midnight on Friday after officers found a gun while conducting a traffic stop.

WPS says when a taxi was stopped at Arlington Street and Selkirk Avenue, a passenger in the cab was confirmed to have an outstanding warrant.

Following the identification, WPS placed the man in custody and discovered that he had a loaded .40 calibre Sig Sauer handgun.

The 33-year-old from Winnipeg is facing eight charges including possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to attend.
