Winnipeg and CUPE step closer to wage increase as policy committee set to consider ratification

The City of Winnipeg and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 500 (CUPE) have reportedly negotiated an agreement that will see wage increases for CUPE members.

Despite the agreement, Winnipeg’s Executive Policy Committee (EPC) will consider ratification sometime next week.

If approved, the deal will see CUPE members earn a retroactive pay increase for March 2021 and 2022. There will also be a 1.5 per cent pay increase on Dec. 31, 2022, 2023 and 2024; Mar. 1, 2023 and 2024; and lastly, Sep. 1, 2024.
