Ex-Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard to appear in court Thursday

Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard is expected to appear in court on Thursday to face another charge of sexual assault.
This charge stems from an incident that occurred on June 25, 2016, in Kirkland Lake.
He was originally charged in March with sexual assault causing bodily harm, but in October, the Crown lawyer told a Haileybury, Ont., court that the case would proceed with just a sexual assault charge.
Hoggard’s lawyer said her client will be pleading not guilty to the charge and denies the allegations.
It comes just weeks after the ex-Hedley frontman was sentenced to five years in prison for the sexual assault of an Ottawa woman. He is currently out on bail pending an appeal to his conviction.
A judge with Ontario’s Court of Appeal who granted the musician bail said Hoggard’s detention is not necessary because he is not a public safety or flight risk and has raised reasonable grounds for appeal.
The 2016 sexual assault took place in a Toronto hotel room, and the Ottawa woman told Hoggard’s sentencing hearing that what happened would haunt her for the rest of her life.
A jury deliberated for six days and twice found itself deadlocked on “some counts” before finding Hoggard guilty in June of sexual assault causing bodily harm in the Ottawa woman’s case.
