Winnipeg police looking for man after child allegedly chased to school

Winnipeg police are looking for a man that allegedly chased an 11-year-old Thursday morning.

WPS say they received a report from a school stating a student had reportedly been chased on his way to the school.

It is believed that while the student was walking, “the stranger approached the youth, offering him candy.”

“When the child refused, the suspect grabbed hold of his arm. The child broke free and ran, with the suspect chasing him, again trying to take hold of him,” officers said in a statement. “The child made it safely to the school, and the suspect ran in the other direction.”

The stranger has been described as a man with a medium build with a white beard, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a white striped hat.

Police are investigating the incident and have asked if anyone in the area of the 600 block of St. Matthews Avenue has any information, to contact investigators at 204-986-6219.
