Four people in hospital following assaults Monday night, police say five teens have been charged

Winnipeg police say five teens have been arrested in connection to multiple assaults Monday night.

Just after 7 p.m. Monday night, WPS officers responded to a report that three teens had been attacked by a group with a machete near Sherbrook Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the three teens — all 15 years old — suffering from wounds, and all three were taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Not long after the initial report, officers were alerted to Juno Steet, where a man in his 40s had reportedly been attacked by a group of youth. He was also taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Following both incidents, police say they found five suspects in the Centennial neighbourhood, south of William Avenue.

All five are between the ages of 12 and 18 years old, and they’ve all been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault.

WPS add all four victims have since been upgraded to stable condition.

Anyone with any information on either of the assaults is asked to contact Winnipeg police at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
