Winnipeg will see changes to snow route parking bans

New changes are coming for Winnipeg’s annual snow route parking ban.

Starting this snowy season, the snow route parking ban will be replaced by the winter route parking ban.

The first difference between the two, is the new winter route ban can see parking become restricted along snow routes starting Nov. 1 instead of Dec. 1.

The end of the parking ban will also be moved from the end of February to the end of April, depending on winter conditions.

Winnipeggers will also notice new street signs along snow routes, which will indicate the name change.

The city says as it will take months to change all the signs, the current “Snow Route” signs are to be considered as the new “Winter Route.”

Winter routes will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. after the city declares the ban to be in effect.

Additionally, the city may call an extended parking ban on top of the annual ban, which will add two hours to the start of parking restrictions.
