Winnipeg police looking for escaped inmate

Winnipeg police are advising the public of an inmate who has escaped by not returning to the Manitoba Youth Centre.

Police say 18-year-old Devren Michael Ponace was participating in a supervised community program around 8 p.m. on Oct. 19, and did not return to the youth centre afterward.

Ponace is described as six-foot-five and weights about 200 lbs.

Ponace is considered to be dangerous and police say do not approach him.

WPS also stated that a court order had to be obtained to release Ponace’s identity as his charges occurred when he was a minor.

Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of Ponace is asked to call 911, investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
