Woman dead after hit-and-run on Portage Avenue Sunday night

Winnipeg police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run at Portage Avenue and Berry Street late Sunday night.

WPS said when officers and paramedics arrived at the intersection, around 11:30 p.m., they found the woman laying in the street with serious injuries.

The woman, who was identified by investigators as 24-year-old Shannon Joan Marie Romaniuk, was taken to hospital where she later died..

It is believed that she was struck by a silver/grey late-model SUV as she was crossing the road.
