Manitoba man facing child pornography charges after photos posted online

Winnipeg police have laid additional charges on a man in connection to intimate photos posted online without consent.

WPS say the suspect was originally charged in May after an intimate image was allegedly posted online in 2015.

In their investigation, police reached out to the public looking for additional women who may have had their intimate photos posted without their consent.

In early September, a woman informed police she was one of the victims in the online photos. She told police she was around 16-17 years old when the photos were taken.

On Oct. 1, Winnipeg police say they went to take the 43-year-old suspect from Winnipeg into custody. During the arrest, WPS say the man “became extremely uncooperative, which required the use of force by a Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser).”

One officer reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The suspect has been charged with possession of child pornography, luring a child under 18, publication of intimate images without consent, and a few more charges.

He’s since been released with Crown-imposed conditions.

Winnipeg police are asking if anyone has any information regarding this case to contact the Domestic Violence Unit at 204-986-2602.

WPS added other supports are available to victims including WPS Victim Services at 204-986-6350 or Klinic Sexual Assault Crisis Line at 204-786-8631.
