Two suspects from Winnipeg are facing multiple charges in connection with a string of stabbings, robberies and a kidnapping believed to have taken place over an eight-day period.
The suspects are a 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman.
NORTH KILDONAN STABBING
Police say the first incident took place Sept. 14 before 9:30 p.m. Investigators believe a man in his 50s went to an apartment building in North Kildonan – on Edison Avenue near Roch Street – thinking he was attending a party. Police believe he knew the female suspect.
The Winnipeg Police Service says the man “was struck with a blunt object by an unknown male and robbed of his belongings before he was stabbed.” Police say the suspects then stole his SUV.
Officers located the man. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and later upgraded to stable condition.
GOOD SAMARITAN STABBED
A few hours later, around 1:50 a.m., police say the suspects ran out of gas while driving the SUV on the Perimeter Highway near McPhillips Street, just outside Winnipeg.
A man in his 30s, not knowing the SUV was stolen, allegedly picked up the two suspects and drove them to a gas station. He then drove them back to their vehicle.
When the pair could not get the stolen SUV to start, they allegedly attempted to rob him at knifepoint. WPS says the Good Samaritan was stabbed during the confrontation.
He managed to drive away, and sought treatment at a hospital.
VICTIM DRIVEN TO BRANDON AGAINST HIS WILL
On Sept. 21, police say a man in his 30s met up with the female suspect – who he knew – and the male suspect, who was previously unknown to him. The trio ended up a hotel on Main Street near St. Mary Avenue.
“When the victim went to bed, he was threatened with a knife and forced outside to his car,” police said in a statement.
“Against his will, the victim was driven to Brandon, Manitoba. He escaped when they stopped at a gas station, and police were contacted.”
The suspects were arrested in Moosomin, Sask., by RCMP. They were turned over to Winnipeg police.
The 25-year-old man was charged with robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
He was also processed on an outstanding arrest warrant for being unlawfully at large.
The 27-year-old was charged with robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement and aggravated assault.
Both were detained.
