A member of the Winnipeg Police Service was found dead in his home Friday morning.
WPS says it learned of the constable’s death a day after finding out he had been charged by the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) for possessing child pornography.
On Thursday the ICE Unit executed a search warrant for the officer’s home in Île-des-Chênes, at which point the officer was taken into custody.
The 15-year member of the force was charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, making available child pornography, and making written child pornography.
Manitoba RCMP says the officer was released by a judge on a release order.
His body was found Friday morning and Winnipeg police say his death is not considered to be criminal in nature.
