Winnipeg police say they seized a weapon and drugs from four suspects allegedly parked in a stolen vehicle in Sargent Park on Saturday night.

Police say the arrest included a struggle with an officer, two suspects getting tasered, and a bystander being assaulted.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. at Ashburn Street and Richard Avenue.

Police say a traffic safety officer on patrol observed two men and two women – all from Winnipeg – sitting in a parked car that had been reported stolen.

When the officer tried speaking to the suspects, one of the men allegedly struggled with the officer, while the second man attempted to flee in the stolen vehicle.

In the process, police say the officer managed to taser both men. But one was able to flee on foot.

Backup officers located that suspect nearby and arrested him. Police claim he assaulted a bystander in a nearby business as he fled from police. The victim was uninjured.

The four suspects were placed under arrest as more officers arrived on the scene.

Police say through their investigation, officers seized a sawed-off 9mm rifle with obliterated serial number, a high-capacity 9mm magazine, ammunition and eight grams of methamphetamine.

The suspects range in age from 25 to 36 years old.

They are facing a multitude of weapons-related charged.

Three suspects remain in police custody. The 25-year-old woman was released on an undertaking.
