Sept. 1 was a fatal day on Manitoba highways, as RCMP responded to three separate incidents.
Mounties say the first happened just before 3 p.m. south of Dauphin on Road 109 West.
A pickup truck that had been heading north reportedly lost control, entered a ditch, and rolled, ejecting the driver — a 69-year-old man — who was not wearing his seatbelt.
Then, just before 10 p.m., RCMP officers in Portage la Prairie were called to a single-vehicle rollover along Highway 1 near the Assiniboine River bridge.
Another pickup truck that had been travelling east reportedly lost control, entered a ditch, and rolled, ejecting the driver. The 32-year-old man from Winnipeg was also not wearing his seatbelt and died in the crash.
The third incident happened just after 11 p.m., at Highway 52 and Road 32 E (Bristol Road) just west of Steinbach.
The RCMP says a vehicle travelling south entered the highway intersection and was hit by another vehicle heading west.
A 37-year-old woman from Mitchell, Manitoba — the driver of the southbound vehicle — was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
