The Southern Chiefs’ Organization in Manitoba has launched workbooks and videos as part of a restorative justice digital program.
It was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic after in-person programs were put on hold.
Grand Chief Jerry Daniels says members in the program are taking responsibility for the harms they’ve caused and this will help them take steps toward healing.
Topics include abandonment, trauma and healing, coping strategies, as well as cultural teachings and language.
“Restorative Justice means we give the opportunity for our people to make amends and heal in our traditional ways,” said Daniels in a statement. “Programs like these are crucial and with this being a digital initiative, it can reach many who are on the recovery journey.”
