By CityNews Staff

The Government of Manitoba says it’s bringing on additional staff to help with the high number of provincial disaster financial assistance applications due to 2022 spring flooding.

Earlier this week, CityNews reported there are more than 194 applications for the program coming from Winnipeg alone and say there are more than 1,600 private applications across the province and more than 6,000 damaged sites.

The province says they expect tens of millions of dollars in assistance to be distributed across Manitoba and are asking the public to be patient as they work through the applications.
