Two hospitalized after weekend stabbings in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police are investigating multiple stabbing incidents that occurred over the weekend, leading to two people ending up in hospital.

WPS say the first incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday when officers found a 43-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound in a home on the 400 block of Sherbrook Street.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to hospital in critical condition.

WPS also responded to an attempted robbery along Stella Avenue around 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers say when they arrived they found a 48-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in unstable condition.

After an investigation of the area, police believe the incident took place along the 300 block of Blake Street. It is believed the victim was approached by someone with a machete, and had his bike stolen.

Both incidents are being investigated and are not believed to be connected.
