Winnipeg girl, 13, ‘viciously’ stabs teenager multiple times on playground: WPS

A 13-year-old Winnipeg girl is facing charges of aggravated assault and robbery after allegedly stabbing another teenager at a playground in the city’s North End on Monday.

Winnipeg police allege the suspect approached two girls – a 13-year-old and a 12-year-old – at a playground on McKenzie Street near Strathcona School.

Police say the suspect then “viciously” stabbed the 13-year-old “in an unprovoked manner.” She then robbed them and fled the area.

Officers were called around 7 p.m. and located the victim nearby on Alfred Avenue with multiple stab wounds.

They provided emergency medical care using a chest seal. When an ambulance arrived, the girl was taken to hospital in unstable condition. She was later upgraded to stable condition.

WPS say they found the teenage suspect in the area of the alleged stabbing and placed her in custody. They say a knife was recovered nearby.

She was charged with aggravated assault, robbery, uttering threats (causing death or bodily harm) and assaulting a peace officer.

She was detained in custody.
