Pickup truck fatally strikes woman seated on bench in northern Manitoba First Nation: RCMP

RCMP in Poplar River say a 59-year-old woman is dead and an 18-year-old woman was injured after being struck by a pickup truck in the northern Manitoba First Nation on Saturday.
Poplar River RCMP say the collision occurred around 1:20 p.m. in front of the community’s Northern Store.
Investigators believe the 54-year-old man driving the pickup truck hit the women while driving into the parking lot.
The 59-year-old woman was taken to a nursing station, where she was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was arrested. He is facing multiple charges, including dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Poplar River on Oct. 3.
