Winnipeg teen charged with assault after spraying camp counsellor

A 16-year-old is facing several charges after assaulting a camp counsellor with an unknown spray.

WPS say the incident happened around 1 p.m. on July 15 at a school along Neville Street.

The camp counsellor, an 18-year-old woman, was suffering from the substance that was sprayed at her when police arrived at the school.

Police say the spray lingered in the area and also affected six children that were playing in the area, and no one was taken to hospital.

Through an investigation, police were able to identify the teen that used the spray as they were known to the victim. Later that night, officers charged the 16-year-old with assault with a weapon and they have since been released.
