Senior among three stabbed in Winnipeg, teen charged

A 15-year-old from Winnipeg has been charged with assault following multiple stabbings in the city Wednesday night.

WPS say they received multiple reports of people being stabbed along Grant Avenue and dispatched officers from three districts and AIR1 to try and locate victims.

Two men were reportedly found suffering from stab wounds in the area of 1100 Grant Avenue and officers also found a senior near Thurso Street and Lorette Avenue suffering from stab wounds.

The 84-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, and one of the men was also taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Police believe the incident started as an attempted break-in at a home owned by one of the victims along Lorette Avenue. The victims are believed to have then chased the teen and were able to subdue him until police arrived.

It is also believed at some point during the chase, the teen came across the 84-year-old woman, at which point she was stabbed.

The 15-year-old suspect is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and intent of breaking and entering.
