Winnipeg duplex in Tyndall Park catches fire twice within 10 hours

Winnipeg fire crews needed to put out a fire at a duplex in Tyndall Park late Thursday night – and again on Friday morning.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a duplex on Albina Way near Raber Road around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday.

Crews found the second-storey unit of the duplex was on fire. It took nearly an hour to declare the fire under control.

Occupants and pets managed to evacuate safely. There were no injuries.

Several hours later, at 8:57 a.m. on Friday, the WFPS was called to the same second-storey duplex.

When they arrived, they found the unit “heavily involved in fire.” The flames were under control shortly before 10 a.m.

Nobody was in the unit at the time of the second fire. Residents of the neighbouring unit were evacuated safely. There were no injuries.

The second-storey duplex unit is expected to be a total loss. The first-storey unit meanwhile suffered smoke and water damage.

Both fires are under investigation.
