Pet dies in Charleswood house fire; home severely damaged

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) says a pet died of fire-related injuries after a home in Winnipeg’s Charleswood neighbourhood caught fire.
The WFPS says a bungalow on Laxdal Road was on fire after 7 a.m. on Saturday.
One resident of the home evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No other injuries were reported.
Fire crews got the fire under control at 9:35 a.m.
The home suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage.
Of the two pets on scene, one was safely reunited with the homeowner. The other was given medical attention but died.
The city is helping the owner find temporary accommodation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
