Former leader of Manitoba Liberals becomes ninth candidate for mayor of Winnipeg

A ninth candidate has thrown her hat in the ring to become the next mayor of Winnipeg.

Lawyer Rana Bokhari, the former leader of the Manitoba Liberals, announced she is running earlier this week.

Current mayor Brian Bowman previously announced he would not be seeking re-election.

Bokhari became the first female minority leader of the Manitoba Liberals when she was elected in 2013. She held that position until 2016.

Winnipeg’s municipal election is Oct. 26.

Bokhari joins eight other candidates in the running:
