More bad weather appears to be on the way for parts of southern Manitoba.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a large swath of southwestern Manitoba covering dozens of municipalities.

Areas affected include Brandon, Dauphin and Virden.

Environment Canada says strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain are expected to hit those areas. There is also a tornado risk.

“An unstable air mass coupled with an approaching low pressure system from the United States will trigger thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, some of which may become severe,” the weather authority said on Saturday.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for severe weather.”
