Pat King facing new charges, bail review halted after lawyer’s computer hacked

Pat King, one of the so-called “freedom” convoy organizers that occupied Ottawa for weeks, is facing two new charges.
This comes the day after his bail review hearing came to an abrupt and unexpected halt on Wednesday when his lawyer’s computer appeared to be hacked.
The details of the hack were kept under wraps by a publication ban ordered by Justice Graeme Mew, but that order was lifted Thursday morning. The Crown also announced it would charge King with perjury and obstruction of justice–those are expected to be laid Thursday afternoon.
The rest of the evidence and testimony from court on Wednesday and Thursday still cannot be shared.

King’s lawyer, David Goodman, appeared in court on Wednesday through a video call, when a robotic female voice spoke from his computer, warning him not to turn off or restart his machine because his IP address had been accessed.
The Crown then said that Goodman’s client files appeared to have been compromised, but Goodman said on Thursday that is not the case.
It remains to be seen whether or not the hack on Goodman’s computer was related to King’s case.
As court was adjourned on Thursday, King was seen putting his head in his hands. His bail hearing will be rescheduled to a later date.
