A Winnipeg police officer was charged with dangerous driving Wednesday after an investigation by Manitoba’s police watchdog.
The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) determined Cst. Bradley Louden was driving dangerously and misused his police vehicle during an incident last year.
The IIU says Louden was involved in an accident with a civilian vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and College Avenue on Oct. 28, 2021, around 7 p.m.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to hospital with a fractured vertebrae, while two police officers were hospitalized – one with a broken arm.
The IIU concluded that Louden drove dangerously causing bodily harm (criminal code), and misused his siren or emergency lighting (highway traffic act).
Louden is expected in provincial court May 16.
