Byelection called to fill seat vacated by former Manitoba premier Brian Pallister

Voters in a section of southwest Winnipeg will go to the polls on March 22 for a Manitoba byelection.
The vote will fill the Fort Whyte seat, a longtime Progressive Conservative stronghold last held by former premier Brian Pallister, who resigned last fall.
This time, the Tories are running Obby Khan, a restaurant owner and former football player with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Manitoba Liberals are putting up another former Blue Bomber, Willard Reaves, who later worked as a sergeant with the Manitoba Sheriff’s Service.
The New Democrat candidate is Trudy Schroeder, a former executive director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
A byelection still has to be called in the Thompson seat in northern Manitoba, which has been vacant since the death of New Democrat Danielle Adams in a highway accident in December.
