Canada to give $500M loan, send lethal weapons to Ukraine

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada will provide a $500-million loan to Ukraine as the threat of a Russian attack grows.
He says this is on top of a previously announced $120-million loan.
Trudeau also says Canada will provide $7.8 million worth of lethal equipment.
Diplomatic efforts to head off what U.S. officials have warned could be an imminent Russian attack on Ukraine entered a new and dizzying round on Monday.
Russia’s top diplomat advised President Vladimir Putin to continue talks and Germany’s chancellor met the Ukrainian president.
Britain’s prime minister said Europe is “on the edge of a precipice,” citing an American warning that Russia could invade Ukraine in the next 48 hours.
