WINNIPEG ─ A man who has attended protests across Canada against COVID-19 restrictions has been arrested in Winnipeg.
Police say Christopher Saccoccia, who also uses the name Chris Sky, was arrested on a warrant for violating public-health orders.
The 38-year-old was arrested at an anti-mask rally on Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue on Tuesday, Winnipeg police said in a release. Sky was later released after a bail hearing on a release order.
Police say the warrant was issued in May after Sky broke Manitoba’s self-isolation order in January, and the province’s gathering order in April.
A few months ago Sky said he would avoid Manitoba, but earlier this week he promoted a march in downtown Winnipeg on social media.
