Winnipeg police arrest second suspect in 2020 death of Mohamed Ahmed

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police have arrested a man on a second-degree murder charge in a homicide from last fall.
Around 8 a.m. on Oct. 12, someone out walking their dog near Churchill Drive and Hay Street noticed a body in the Red River.
Police responded to the scene and recovered the body, which was later identified as Mohamed Mohiadin Ahmed, 29.
Investigators have since determined that Ahmed was killed at a home in the Fort Garry area just days before his body was found.

On Feb. 27, Jesse James Dahmer, 28, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in Ahmed’s death.
Evan Daniel Bill Brightnose, 21, who WPS homicide detectives issued a warrant for in February, has now been arrested as well.
