Deputy PM responds to death of worker on Trans Mountain expansion

OTTAWA (660 NEWS) – Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister said she is “deeply saddened” to learn someone working on the Trans Mountain expansion project has died.
A piece of equipment reportedly struck and killed the worker at the west Edmonton site Tuesday afternoon.
Crystia Freeland took to Twitter saying the government is closely following the situation as Occupational Health and Safety investigates.
The relevant authorities are currently investigating and the government is closely following the situation.

“First and foremost, my thoughts are with the worker’s loved ones, friends, and colleagues,” said Freeland. “This incident is tragic and unacceptable.”
The worker was employed by SA Energy Group, a company contracted by Trans Mountain for the expansion.
