Citytv presents ‘Veracity: Going Viral:’ a one-of-a-kind inside look at the coronavirus pandemic

By News Staff

A new documentary produced by Citytv set to air on Monday, September 21st, will take viewers into the homes and lives of those greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past several months, our teams have been following the journeys of several Canadians as they endured the many challenges that came with this unprecedented time.

The story telling, much like our subjects, had to adapt to the complexities posed by a pandemic.

Given social distancing requirements, our teams could not send cameras to those who took part. So, this extraordinary group of Canadians documented their own struggles exclusively for Citytv by using cellphone cameras to track their daily lives – giving us a one-of-a-kind inside look at the obstacles they’ve faced over the past several months.

From a nurse on the frontlines, to a mother expecting her first child, to business owners struggling to stay afloat, the documentary and a series of news stories takes viewers on a wild ride with many highs and lows.

The documentary begins with a young pregnant Toronto woman navigating the medical world amid a pandemic. A Calgary nurse takes us into her workplace – an emergency department transformed because of the coronavirus.

Many aspects of the manufacturing sector radically transformed in a short amount of time. We get a front-row view to this dramatic shift through the eyes of a leader in the automotive world, as he helms a pivot from the making of car parts to the manufacturing of much-needed personal protective equipment.

The struggle so many business owners faced – and continue to face – is seen through the eyes of the head of a marketing firm working to keep his business afloat and avoid laying off staff members.

Viewers will also witness a B.C. man bound to a wheelchair who has been essentially left to care for himself because of the lockdown.

The documentary also follows the journey of one family who has a loved one in a long-term care home rocked by the COVID-19 virus.

‘Veracity: Going Viral’ highlights the adversity and determination so many Canadians have exhibited during one of the most challenging eras in modern times.

It airs Monday September 21st at 9:00 p.m. EST in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Those in Calgary and Edmonton can tune in at 9:00 p.m. MST.

It will air at 8:00 p.m. CDT for those in Winnipeg, and at 8:00 p.m. CST in Saskatchewan.
