Long-term health-care worker in Brandon, Man., tests positive for COVID-19

By The Canadian Press

WINNIPEG – Manitoba health officials say a worker at a long-term care facility in Brandon has tested positive for COVID-19.

They say a case previously identified in the Prairie Mountain Health region is a worker from the Hillcrest Place personal care home in Brandon, Man.

They say that while the worker wore personal protective equipment and is self-isolating, the facility is putting additional measures in place to further reduce the risk to residents and staff, including restricting visitation.

They say the risk remains low, but the protocols have been instituted out of an abundance of caution and information has been shared with families, staff and close contacts.

Health officials say 55 new cases of the virus have been identified in the province, bringing the total to 1,151.

The number of people who have died due to COVID-19 is 14 while 693 have recovered.
