WINNIPEG – Homicide investigators have arrested and charged a second suspect in relation to a deadly assault at the beginning of 2019.
On Jan. 7 last year, around 10:30 a.m., police were called to a home on Burrows Avenue near Powers Street. A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with a serious gunshot wound in his upper body.
Police arrested suspect, Benny Hansen, 34, at the scene.
Hansen was charged with aggravated assault, five gun-related charges, and two counts of failure to comply with recognizance.
A week later, the victim, 31-year-old Dexter Dejarisco, succumbed to his injuries and Hansen was charged with second-degree murder.
Now, more than a year later, police say their investigation led them to a second suspect who was with Hansen when Dejarisco was shot.
On Thursday, Brennan Bercier, 24, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
