Hawerchuk banner moved to True North Square so fans can pay tribute

WINNIPEG (CityNews) – Winnipeg Jets fans will be able to pay tribute to Dale Hawerchuk.
Hawerchuk’s Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame banner has been temporarily relocated to True North Square’s plaza so fans can celebrate his life and hockey career, and his impact on our community.
Hawerchuk, a hockey phenom who became the face of the Winnipeg Jets en route to the Hall of Fame, has died at the age of 57 after a battle with stomach cancer.

The Jets and Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts, a team Hawerchuk coached, confirmed the death on Twitter on Tuesday.
It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of our head coach and friend, Dale Hawerchuk.

True North Sports and Entertainment group is urging fans to be safe and practice physical distancing while in the plaza.
