Winnipeg police investigate a pair of assaults

WINNIPEG (CityNews) – Winnipeg police are looking for multiple suspects believed to be involved in a sexual assault.

On August 14, Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a serious sexual assault that occurred in the area of Logan Avenue and Vine Street.

Police say around 3:00 a.m., a 26-year-old female was walking in the area when she was approached by three men and seriously sexually assaulted. The victim was conveyed to hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspects are described as:

Male 1: Approximately 30 years of age, 5’ 6”- 5’7” in height, medium-heavy build, wearing a black hoodie, baseball cap possibly Raptors colours, baggy jean shorts and black shoes.

Male 2: Younger-looking, slim build, wearing a blue surgical mask, black hoodie, black sweatpants, carrying a crossbody bag, and black shoes.

Male 3: Approximately 30-40 years of age, has a tattoo under his left eye, wearing a hat, black zip-up sweater with words on the back, black pants, and black shoes.

All three males reportedly fled eastbound in the south lane of Gallagher, east of the railway tracks. Investigators are if anyone who may have video surveillance in the area or may have been in the vicinity and witnessed anything suspicious between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., to call 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Winnipeg police have charged a pair of teens for an alleged assault.

On August 13, Winnipeg Police Service responded to a beer vendor near Maryland Street and Wellington Avenue, for a report of two males had been seen assaulting a customer.

Officers reportedly located an injured male at the Health Sciences Centre. The male had been brought to the hospital and was admitted in critical condition.

Police believe that the two males had attended the vendor and stabbed the victim several times for unknown reasons. The victim did not know his attackers before the incident.

Two suspects were identified, and both were arrested at different residences. At the time of his arrest, one suspect was found to be in possession of a knife.

One of the teens was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with sentence.

The other teen was charged with aggravated assault, and failing to comply with condition of release order.
