WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police are searching for a suspect in a sex assault.

Tuesday morning, around 6:30 a.m., WPS was called to an apartment on Furby Street near Portage Ave where a woman was assaulted in her home.

Police say the woman was alone in her suite when a man broke in through an unlocked fire escape door and attacked her.

The victim fought her attacker and called the police when he ran away.

Investigators are now looking for a man in his late 20s, about 5’7″ with a stocky build and short black hair.

The suspect was wearing a blue or grey shirt, beige shorts, black shoes, a black backpack, and a blue surgical mask at the time of the attack.

If you have any information on this case, call WPS or Crime Stoppers.
