WINNIPEG – An RCMP Major Crimes investigative team will be on scene on Alfred Avenue looking for clues that might help piece together a murder from June.
Around 9:30 p.m. on June 24, Mounties responded to a call about human remains on Baker Street in Portage la Prairie.
Investigators determined that the remains belonged to Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe, 27, and he was a victim of murder.

Now, detectives believe a burned-down home on Winnipeg’s Alfred Avenue may help them figure out what happened before Reimer-Wiebe was killed.
This house, between Salter Street and Aikins Street, was the location of a fire on June 20, and for safety reasons was demolished after the fire.
That section of Alfred Avenue will be closed to traffic except for local residents for the next couple of days.
