WINNIPEG (CITYNEWS) – Winnipeg police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing last week.

Brian Jamie Cromarty has been charged with second-degree murder following a stabbing that took place in the early morning of Friday, June 19.

The victim, 33-year-old Robert James Forbister, died in hospital over the weekend.

Police say the stabbing occurred in the area of Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street sometime between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Cromarty is being detained in police custody.

The homicide came just a few days after a violent weekend in Winnipeg saw nine separate stabbing incidents.
