Snow route parking ban to go into effect

WINNIPEG (CityNews) – A snow route parking ban is going in to effect as of midnight Tuesday morning, two hours earlier than expected.

The City of Winnipeg says it is in response to the amount of snow that’s fallen recently and will go until 7:00 a.m.

A snowfall warning is in effect for the City of Winnipeg which could bring upwards of 20 cm of snow to the region.

The majority of the plowing done during this time will focus on main routes, bus routes and collector streets.

The City says this parking ban extends the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban by two hours (which goes from 2:00 to 7:00 a.m.).

This impending ban will be in place until snow clearing operations are complete and the public will be notified once it’s lifted.

If you live on a street with marked ‘snow route’ signs, the City says you must move your vehicle, or face a possible fine of $100 and/or a tow.
