WINNIPEG (CITYNEWS) – Winnipeg Police have laid attempted murder charges after a violent stabbing late Monday night.

Shortly before midnight Monday, officers were called to a home on Tuxedo Avenue near Doncaster Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her 30s seriously injured. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition where she remains.

A little over an hour later, police arrested a suspect after he had returned to the scene.

Investigators believe the suspect got into a fight with two sisters at the house, during which time he grabbed a knife. One sister tried to intervene but was pushed away while the suspect stabbed the other woman.

Ryan Sinclair, 20, has been charged with attempt to murder, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.
